The obscure portals of the infernal underworld in Eastern Europe are now open so that we can penetrate the darkest abysses of Hungary Underground and where we find the perverted demons of agony. Yes, I'm talking about Gomold, a band born recently in the impure, coldest caves of death, where their evil symphonies resound with the intention of swallowing all those who dare to dive into this bottomless pit where you will only find sound nightmares that will torment you irreversibly.

With this impure interview, Murder Records also intends to release the new official video clip of Gomold as the track "Zugló Démona", made by the perverted mind of Leo Mora and where the infidels of the Underground movement will be devoured without restraint. Without wasting any more time, let's talk to Crotalos, the founding demon of Gomold, with whom I had the honor of speaking and who will reveal a little more about the blasphemous rituals that Gomold intends to share and expose with us in this omnious interview.

C.N. - HELL-the brother of darkness, first of all I want to welcome the demons of Gomold to the infernal catacombs of Murder Records. I would like to start this interview by asking you to introduce and tell us a little more about Gomold and how the band began its hostilities?
CROTALOS - Hail to you brother, and to all listeners from Zvglo!  Although Gomold was founded in 2024, but Big Chris (our bassist) and I (Crotalos: guitar and vocals) have been planning to form a band for many years ago, when the band name didn’t even exist. Then Lucius (drums) and Mandragora (vocals) joined, too. Honestly, a strong desire for vendetta inspired me in the beginning to create Gomold.

C.N. - Gomold is a relatively new band that formed in 2024, however recently your vocalist Mandragora left the band leaving Gomold reduced to a blasphemous trio. Can you introduce us to the current line-up of Gomold?
CROTALOS - It wasn’t the last time you could have heard Mandragora’s voice, because despite she has left the band as an active member, she still belongs to the ZBMK (Zvgloian Black Metal Circle). I think I dare to tell you now that Mandragora is not else than the daughter of Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Tormentor). Due to her work-related duties, she cannot take part in the band’s life actively in the moment, no matter how much I love her voice. However, like her father, she supports the band in many other ways. Currently you can hear three of us singing, because I’ve taken over the vocals, but on stage you can expect to hear some guest musicians. But let it be our surprise for the upcoming releases. All I can tell you is that it will be very dark and evil.

C.N. - Gomold's sound fits into the more blasphemous aspects of Black Metal, which is defined by a raw and insane sound. How do you define the band's sound and what message does the band intend to convey in its lyrics?
CROTALOS - From a musical point of view, I can see the first demo as an attempt to find our way to our voice and sound. I must admit that the process of experimentation has its mark on the record, though I’m not bothered by it because many bands rose to their cult status after making a demo from very limited resources. Otherwise, our next record will diverge from the style of the first demo. It hasn’t finished yet, but it’s gonna be something very different, and we will do our best to make it sound different, too. I always write the lyrics, and as I mentioned, many of them were about revenge, but the newest songs are trying to grasp certain physical and emotional aspects of nightmares. Also, they are mediating darkness and heresy.

C.N. - I would like to ask you to let us know a little better the musical influences that inspire Gomold to compose his cursed melodies where unhealthy insanity is reflected in the nefarious musical chaos that you present to us?
CROTALOS - Hm… I respect and love many bands, such as the Inner Awakening Circle or BFBMK bands from Hungary, or the Nidrosian bands from Norway. But among many of them, I could compare our sound to the legendary Les Legions Noires bands at most. Therefore, we are not afraid of experimenting, because that makes us unique. It’s not exactly Black Metal we’re playing, but it’s specialized form, Zvgloian Black Metal. Obviously, there will be people expressing their dislike against it, but there are always those petty, hater dickheads…but there are also people appreciating what we are doing, so the best is to neglect negative influences.

C.N. - In 2024, Gomold's debut demo was recorded and will be released in Cassette format, a version made by Murder Records and an independent version that will be made by Gomold. I would like to ask you to tell us and introduce us a little better your debut demo, which is entitled "Demo-MMXXIV"?
CROTALOS - Firstly, I’d like to say that I’m glad, that we got Murder Records as a label, and we are planning ahead for a long-term co-operation, due to their very conscious and amazing work. As for the demo, I know that it’s far not our best release, because that was our pathfinding, as it is for many musicians. For example, I would not include the first track of our demo, called “ÖrvénylÅ‘ Sötétség”, unless Mandragora had convinced me that it’s a promising song, begging for lyrics she could sing. The second track “Zugló Démona”  is more conceptual, representing the essential of Gomold. So was the third track, “Fekete Mocsár” with an outro ideal for closing such a record. Few people know only about the making of the fourth song, which is the cover of Mayhem’s Deathcrush, but we could not release it so far due to copyright issues. But if there is a chance, I will make it released because with the fantastic voice of Mandragora it is as cult as it was performed by Attila Csihar in Mayhem. The material was recorded by my brother (Tas Bálint Pataki), and he mixed it together with Attila Csihar, who made the first photographs of the band. Here I’d like to say special thanks to him for supporting the work of Gomold.

C.N. - At the end of December 2024, as a trio, the band will release a single entitled "Eretnekek Imája". What do you want to tell us about the reason that led you to release this single?
CROTALOS - Our song called „Eretnekek Imája” was created shortly after the release of the demo on our Bandcamp site. We found out the instrumental part relatively fast, and the ideas for the lyrics followed it soon. While I was recording the vocals, I decided to add this song to our next demo. I was not meant to release it as a single until Mandragora left the band, then I decided to record the song with my own voice instead of looking for a new vocalist. The actual sounding of the record fits my expectations quite well…as if we recorded it in a musty crypt. I think that it became a great track. The purpose of releasing it as a single was to allow listeners of Gomold to hear it with my own voice. Of course, this song will be a bit different in the next demo, but it will sound quite like the latest version.

C.N. - I know that Gomold is already preparing its next demo that will be released in 2025. What can you tell us about what you are preparing?
CROTALOS - As for the next demo, … Yes, we are preparing it full of excitement. It will be called „Zuglói Árnyak”. Without saying too much I can share that it will be different from the first demo. Of note, we will keep on experimenting with the new songs, and we already recorded two of them. In addition, if it won’t violate any copyright, we will also include a cover song to it.

C.N. - Gomold's lyrics and themes are presented in Hungarian. Why did you choose to present your work in your native language?
CROTALOS - Previously we have planned to make songs in English, but after a while I realized, that many great underground bands, (such as my personal favorite, Cryfemal) write lyrics on their native languages. Same holds for similarly outstanding bands of the Hungarian scene, like Niedergang and Lidérc. Otherwise, I think that the Hungarian language is so extraordinary and unique. Therefore, I felt that besides giving a special and original sound to thesongs, our native language allows me to express my true nature… an autonomous person, who never repeats whatever the other people do.

C.N. - Hungary has a more restricted underground movement where we can find good bands, can you reveal a little more about the Hungarian Underground and which bands would you like to suggest to those who don't know the infamous musical underworld in Hungary?
CROTALOS - I don’t think that the Hungarian scene is less known. But whom I see as the best bands are Dunkelheit, Lepra, Niedergang, Hell Eternal, Grimness, Gyötrelem, Voidshrine, Lidérc, Infectus. I also mustmention Dusk among the earlier bands.

C.N. - What are Gomold's plans and goals for the future? What can we expect from the band as they journey through the underworld of darkness?
CROTALOS - After completing the second demo, we are going to work on a Split record together with a special great Greek band. After making it, we intend to create and release a studio EP. If everything goes well, our first live ritual will be organized in the next year including two foreign bands. It’s scheduled for the same day when our LP has got released. In addition, we are working on a merch set, all of them are strongly limited editions. Meanwhile, we are building our first complete album, which I want to improve a lot, keeping in mind that it will be not just a whole new album, but a beginning of a new era. But I can tell you more about it later, and I honestly hope that we can release it under Murder Records.

C.N. - We have reached the end of this interview and I would like to thank you for introducing us a little better to Gomold by revealing their activities as a band. Now I would like to leave this space entirely at your disposal so that you can reveal or mention anything that you think is relevant and that has not yet been mentioned in this interview. You can also vomit and spit hate at whoever you want.
CROTALOS - We and I are also pleased to have the chance for this interview.
Never surrender to this shitty modern, multicultural world order, which is awfully harmful and toxic! Keep your eyes open!
Hail from Zvglo!
